Cool Runnings With Sinatra

It was an interesting run this morning. Afterwards she told Monet all about her goose friends that didn’t want to talk to her this morning. Monet said they were probably just waking up and didn’t like company this early. She also told her about the guy who didn’t know how to use a turn signal, but we were watching, cause he wasn’t. Monet said she would have told him he was number one. Sinatra said she’s too young to talk like that, but when she’s older she might develop a potty mouth just for situations like that.

She couldn’t wait to get out there this morning! Solid pace for the furface. She asked when daylight savings happens while we chased the sunrise. I said November. She said I needed to get her some running lights. Is that a thing? Guess we’ll ask Alexa.

Sinatra: Alexa, show us some running lights for puppies.

Alexa: See something you like?

Sinatra: Ooooooh, I want the pink light up collar! Can I get that?

Me: We can try that.

Sinatra: I’m going to look like a bolt of pink lightning going down the sidewalk!

Me: I guess I’ll get those little green clip on things.

Sinatra: Yeah, then you’ll look like a piece of broccoli running down the road Hahahahahahaha!

We laid back into our run today for an easier pace so we could enjoy the awesome breeze. Perfect weather for an afternoon run! Also, we used the extra time to finalize our strategy for tonight’s fantasy draft. She thinks it could be the Brown’s year, and she might be on to something….. She apparently considers herself more of a Bears fan than anything though.

Sinatra: I’m ready for da Bears to go to the Super Bowl!

Me: Oh yeah, you decided on the Bears huh?

Sinatra: Yeah, of course. The bear is my spirit animal.

Me: What makes you say that?

Sinatra: Well, we are both really strong, we like to run, we are really good at sleeping, and we like food.

Me: So now you’re a bear expert huh.

Sinatra: Nah, I’m a life expert.

So we had get going pretty early to get our chores done. But we finally got to sit down and have some lunch around noon. Then she’s like, ‘you know what would be great right now? A nice afternoon run! It’s breezy and cloudy, about 70°, and there’s a light rain.’ You know what, she was right. Although I will point out that today she stirred a flock of geese faster than I’ve seen a flock of geese get stirred. I don’t think they were ready to fly south, but after today they may consider early retirement.

Nothing but the breakfast of champions for my bestest girl! Great run this morning. She’s not a fan of the garbage trucks, loose timing belts, screeching brakes, or fire trucks. And ANY intersection we cross warrants a full sprint to the other side. I think it’s the herding nature she has.

Sinatra: C’mon! We have to get across as fast as possible!

Me: Why? Slow down!

Sinatra: Because- no slowing down!

Me: Why?

Sinatra: Whew, we made it!

Me: Barely, but yeah. Maybe we don’t have to cross every intersection that way?

Sinatra: But we have to get across fast.

Me: You still haven’t said why?

Sinatra: Because we have to be first.

Me: We are the only ones out here.

Sinatra: And we are the fastest!

Me: Ummm…. Ok.

Sinatra: I like winning. It’s basically my superpower.

Me: Sometimes slow and steady wins the race.

Sinatra: I think someone made that up for people that can’t go fast like me. Luckily you have me.

Some huskys are missing part of their back fence, the result of which is less outside free playtime… and it shows.

Sinatra: When will the fence be back up?

Me: In just a couple days.

Sinatra: Good, I don’t like going outside on a leash.

Me: You are on a leash right now.

Sinatra: Yeah, but it’s different cause we’re running.

Me: We can run around in the backyard.

Sinatra: You would look silly.

Me: Yeah, I guess I would.

Sinatra: I mean, you always look kinda silly anyways.

Me: Wow, thanks.

Sinatra: Maybe you would look better with fur and a tail.

Me: Maybe so.

Sinatra: And maybe a long nose and big tall ears.

Me: So you think I should look like you?

Great Sunday pace! She got a little distracted by her German Shepherd crush but other than that it was a steady run. No geese were harmed in the making of this run. No unplanned treats were eaten off the sidewalk either.

Sinatra: How come you don’t have a tail?

Me: I guess I don’t need one.

Sinatra: But they are so cool!

Me: Yeah, and yours is really fluf..

Sinatra: Don’t touch it!

Me: I didn’t, I just pointed at it!

Sinatra: Ok, good. It’s mine.

Me: Yep, and if you don’t want anyone to touch it then they shouldn’t.

Sinatra: Yeah, I’ll probably bite them if they try.

Me: Well, try to just warn them first. I’d rather you didn’t bite someone unless you have to.

Sinatra: I’ll try. Hey, I bet if you had a tail you would be faster.

Me: Why?

Sinatra: Aerodynamics of course! Duh! Everyone knows that.

Me: I think you made that up.

Boom! She scored her fastest four to six mile pace this morning! She basically shattered her previous best.

Sinatra: Yeah, I’m pretty much the bestest husky ever.

Me: What did we say about bragging?

Sinatra: To only do it when it’s true?

Me: I don’t think that was it.

Sinatra: Well, that should be the rule.

Me: I’m glad you are so proud of yourself.

Sinatra: Glad enough to give me extra animal crackers?

Me: Yeah, I think we can do that.

Sinatra: Yesssss!

Me: Here you go furball. *gives her 3 animal crackers*

Sinatra: *looks at animal crackers and back up at me* Really? Three? That’s it for the bestest husky ever?

Me: You don’t want to ruin breakfast.

Sinatra: How bout this: You hand over more animal crackers and I won’t call the goose mafia. Deal?

Me: *gives her more animal crackers* I still don’t like your deals.

Tip #234 for keeping up with your husky when she’s mad at you for not taking her on a good run in a few days: Hang on tight, adjust your stride, pray. She made me pay for it during that first mile, and then she settled down for a solid pace. It was a top 10 pace for the furface.

Sinatra: Where you been?

Me: We had to go pick up the little one.

Sinatra: You smell funny.

Me: We stayed in a hotel for a couple days.

Sinatra: What’s a hotel?

Me: It’s a place you stay when you travel. They have lots of rooms. You’ve been to one when you were little and we moved.

Sinatra: I missed you.

Me: I missed you too.

Sinatra: Take me next time you go.

Me: We’ll see, maybe we will. Hey, can we slow down just a little.

Sinatra: Nope.

Me: Please!

Sinatra: Nope. You stink and I’m trying to air you out.

Sinatra: I dreamt last night that we ran a race against a hundred giant rabbits. They were super scary.

Me: Oh yeah? Did we win?

Sinatra: Yeah, it was a long race, but ran really fast and you punched all the rabbits.

Me: I did?

Sinatra: Yeah and I bit all the rabbits ears off.

Me: Uhh, that’s a little harsh.

Sinatra: And then we hit em’ all over the head with giant carrots.
